HIGH-QUALITY PSYCHOTHERAPY
Ok. We'll admit it: Therapy is kind of a weird deal ...at first.
You sit in a room with a stranger. You talk about things that you don't usually share with anyone.
You're afraid the therapist will think you're crazy. Right?
No wonder people won't go!
But... therapy can be a life-changing experience.
Real therapy is more about asking questions than offering answers.
Real therapy is not about advice-giving or telling people what they should do.
We provide insight-oriented dynamic psychotherapy that will allow you an opportunity to discover... you.
Most of us practice from either a dynamic, existential, or humanistic basis. However, we are also trained in popular "evidence-based" methods such as Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Cognitive Processing (CPT), Exposure Response-Prevention (ERP), Motivational Interview (MI), and more. However, we rarely rely on these manualized treatments, instead focusing on the dynamics of the doctor/patient relationship.
It is the relationship between a patient and their therapist that often fosters growth and healing.

ACTIVE CLINICAL RESEARCH
Psychology is but one of many fields of science. Our field is particularly interested in human behavior as it relates to the brain and mind. However, our field also overlaps with many others: neuroscience, education, sociology, psychiatry, social work, counseling, and philosophy, to name a few.
At Psychology Professionals, our docs participate in at least one of two categories of research:
(1) Private Research
Psychologists who conduct their own research, generally do so in a very specific field of psychology. For example, Dr. Harrison's research centers on the comparison of parental impressions of their child's personality. Dr. Cooper's research focuses on prescriptive training and anti-trust legal issues for prescribers. Dr. Chee researches at-risk youth in minority populations. Dr. Chapman's research centers on mental hygiene in public school systems.
(2) Clinical Field Research
We also conduct field research for some of the biggest names in clinical and educational psychology, such as Pearson, PAR, MHS, and Pro-Ed. We help standardize measures such as intelligence, academic abilities, visuospatial processing skills, and executive functioning skills.
